CarouselAI
Project Goal:
Independently design and deploy a versatile, fast-turnaround robotic picking cell by leveraging and adapting core modular sub-assemblies from the CarouselAI platform.
My Responsibilities:
-
First Engineering-Free Mechanical Deployment: Designed the company's first robotic cell architecture capable of complete physical installation and mechanical assembly by third-party contractors without sending on-site mechanical engineers.
-
End-to-End Mechanical Ownership: Served as the sole mechanical engineer for the VersaAI platform, taking the cell from initial architecture layout through detail design, CAD modeling, and physical assembly.
-
Modular Architecture Reuse: Reused and adapted standardized "building block" sub-assemblies—including structural frames, utility routing, and safety enclosures—to drastically compress development time and reduce custom engineering.
-
Custom Subsystem Design: Engineered platform-specific mounting interfaces, end-effector/tooling integration, and sensor brackets in SolidWorks (weldments, sheet metal, and machined components).
-
Cross-Functional Integration: Partnered directly with software and electrical leads to optimize cell footprint, safety boundaries, and cable management for rapid field deployment.
